[ a particularly bold spirit can be noticed watching klaes from the distance, notable for the bucket helmet they wear over their head and the shiny, shiny trumpet they have strapped to their side.

sometimes, if klaes makes eye contact with the spirit, the spirit will salute him and pull out their trumpet to let out a noisy blare of acknowledging klaes' noticing of them. it is loud. it is noisy. it is clearly done with pride and passion. they then retreat into the woods as if that was their plan the entire time.

there are also attempts on daylight's end to try and interact with klaes during the 'day' when the teenager notices klaes out and about. it's... awkward, to say the least, since day and klase has never interacted before. so the sudden interest is strange.

but day does his best to be genuinely interested in him, asking questions about his likes and dislikes, his hobbies and interes around beacon. he's trying to be subtle about the information digging so points for effort, at least? ]

[Ashford is understandably wary by this strange and sudden change in routine. Having grown used to going about his day without drawing any attention (certainly a change from his life as a captain on the Behemoth), he's not sure he welcomes the sudden interest from one of the spirits. Particularly given he still hasn't decided how he feels about the spirits altogether.

At first he avoids the spirit, wincing at the sound of the trumpet, and trying to walk with a steady, quick clip. But little by little he gives in, starting to answer the questions first with short vague answers, and eventually giving a bit more.

Always, though, he retains a sense of uncertainty.]
